We have been engaged by $20BB company that wholly owns and operates thousands of small retail stores which are distinctive and instantly recognizable. They are #1 in their market by a huge margin and are continuing to grow and set the pace for their industry.
Due to the explosive growth of the business, and some major property acquisitions, they are seeking to hire a District Manager in the Virginia Beach area.
Each role will involve being a District Manager heading up 10-12 stores in the district, and enabling them to grow further in the region. Each position reports to the Vice President of Regional Operations.
The stores are small, and tend to employ 3 or 4 people at each location, generating an average of $500K to $750K in sales per location.
The person who will be hired must be extremely strong in operations as there will be complete responsibility for P&L, budgetary factors, hiring, training, staffing, ensuring all administration, branding, and asset management are being maintained to company standards.
It is a requirement that the individual to be hired will have a minimum of 5 years of multistore management experience (6+ stores) including full P&L responsibility and hire/fire authority. No exceptions.
A background in convenience stores, restaurants, service stations, car rental, video rental, or virtually any other type of company owned multi site retail operation is essential. In addition to the rule of NO BIG BOX, candidates from the financial services, telecom, pharmacy or self storage industries will not be considered. Any candidates coming from a franchise environment must have had full P&L hire/fire authority.
Compensation program consists of a 3 prong package: Base salary and bonus which account for cash earnings of $81K first year (guaranteed) plus another $16K in stock, $90K to $96K cash 2nd year plus another $16K in stock, plus a stock grant/bonus program which can add value of as much as an additional $40K to this figure, bringing the value of the package over $120K and possibly as high as $135K. 500 shares of stock are granted at sign-on, which is currently trading at almost $120/share ($60,000 value).
